Broad Plain Rugby Football Club Bristol

So, picture this: it's 1887, and a bunch of lads in Bristol decide they've had enough of just watching rugby. They want to get their hands dirty, so they form the Broad Plain Rugby Football Club. Fast forward to today, and this club has seen more action than a Hollywood blockbuster, with a rich history that's as chequered as a rugby jersey.

Now, you might be thinking, "Why Broad Plain?" Well, it's named after the area where the club was originally founded. But let's be honest, it's a lot more exciting to imagine a bunch of rugby players running around a broad plain, chasing after a ball, rather than the actual, slightly less dramatic, Broad Plain area.

The Grounds

The club's home is at the Broad Plain Playing Fields, a place that's seen more mud and sweat than a farm during a monsoon. The grounds are nestled in the heart of Bristol, making it the perfect spot for a quick game or a leisurely stroll (if you're into that sort of thing).

But here's a fun fact for you: the grounds are also home to a rather unusual resident. No, it's not a ghost or a mythical creature, but a rather large and friendly goose who has taken up residence. This goose is so beloved by the players and fans that it's become something of a mascot. Just don't try to tackle it – it's a lot faster than it looks!

The Team

Now, let's talk about the team. The Broad Plain Rugby Football Club is known for its spirit, and by that, I mean the kind of spirit that gets you through a hangover and a long day at work. The team is made up of a mix of local lads and lasses, all with a shared love for the game and a healthy dose of Bristolian banter.

The Community

But the Broad Plain Rugby Football Club isn't just about the game. It's also about the community. The club hosts a variety of events throughout the year, from social gatherings to charity fundraisers. And let me tell you, there's nothing quite like a good old-fashioned rugby party to bring the community together.

And if you're thinking of joining the club, you'll be in good company. The Broad Plain Rugby Football Club has a reputation for being one of the most welcoming and inclusive clubs in the area. So, whether you're a seasoned rugby player or a complete beginner, you'll find a place here.

With a rich history, a welcoming community, and a whole lot of spirit, it's the perfect place to get involved in the world of rugby. And who knows? You might just end up with a newfound love for the game – and a new friend in a rather large and friendly goose.
